As a big fan of castles definitely this one is one of my favourite.Very beautiful and interesting.
Set high on a hill in West Sussex, Arundel Castle commands the landscape with magnificent views across the South Downs and the River Arun.
There are nearly 1,000 years of history at this great castle, situated in magnificent grounds overlooking the River Arun in West Sussex and built at the end of the 11th century by Roger de Montgomery, Earl of Arundel.
It was established by Roger de Montgomery on Christmas Day 1067. Roger became the first to hold the earldom of Arundel by the gracesIt of William the Conqueror .
The castle was damaged in the English civil war and then restored in the 18th and 19th centuries by Charles Howard the 11th Duke of Norfolk.
From the 11th century, the castle has served as a home and has been in the ownership of the family of the Duke of Norfolk for over 400 years. It is the principal seat of the Howard family, whose heads have been first Earls of Arundel and then Dukes of Norfolk.
Inside you can find wax figures showing people doing their job.
After the castle we went to the paradise .
The Collector Earl's Garden.I am never seen a beautiful garden like this
From the garden you can see Arundel Cathedral of Our Lady and Saint Philip Howard.
The Cathedral Church of Our Lady and St Philip Howard is a Roman Catholic cathedral in Arundel .
Dedicated in 1873 as the Catholic parish church of Arundel, it became a cathedral at the foundation of the Diocese of Arundel and Brighton in 1965
